Look closely before choosing an approach.

Surface material, existing coatings, weather exposure, moisture and previous repairs all matter. Peeling on one area does not automatically call for the same work as a sound surface beside it. An assessment identifies what is there, what needs attention and which preparation belongs in the agreed scope.

Clean for the material.

Dirt, loose material and other contamination can interfere with a coating. Cleaning needs to suit the substrate and its condition. More pressure is not automatically better around vulnerable joints, weathered wood or damaged stucco. Appropriate drying time also matters. Ask how cleaning and drying will be handled on your project.

Repair with the whole surface in mind.

The cause, stability and surrounding finish need consideration. Drywall texture, stucco and wood details each bring different challenges. Repaired areas may remain visible in certain light or alongside aged material. We discuss the intended improvement and its limits rather than promising every repair will disappear.

Build on a suitable foundation.

Preparation may include removing unsound coatings, sanding or other surface treatment, agreed repairs, appropriate joint treatment and priming where required. The method depends on the material and coating. Drainage and ventilation details must be respected; not every opening should be sealed. Garage floors need their own assessment of the concrete and existing finish.

Care for the home around the work.

Floors, fixtures, landscaping, adjacent finishes and access routes belong in the planning conversation. Discuss what will be protected and what needs to be moved.
